Dearness Allowance hiked by 2 per cent for central government employees, pensioners: Indian Express News Dearness allowance is provided to employees and pensioners to minimise the impact of price rise on their earnings. The Cabinet on Thursday approved 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners, effective from July 1, 2016. The proposal to hike the DA was approved during the Cabinet meeting today afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office. The announcement, which comes ahead of Diwali, is set to bring cheer to around 50 lakh central government employees and 58 lakh pensioners in the country. Dearness allowance is provided to employees and pensioners to minimise the impact of price rise on their earnings. Release of additional instalment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to Pensioners due from 1.1.2016 The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved release of an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to Pensioners w.e.f. 01.01.2016. This represents an increase of 6 percent over the existing rate of 119 percent of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise. This will benefit about 50 lakh Government employees and 58 lakh pensioners. The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be of Rs. 6796.50 crore per annum and Rs.7929.24 crore respectively, in the financial year 2016-17 (for a period of 14 months from January, 2016 to February, 20...

Cabinet approves 6% hike in DA for central govt employees ( w.e.f 01/07/2015)

NEW DELHI: Good news for central government employees. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday cleared a proposal to increase dearness allowance (DA) to 119% from 113%, which will potentially benefit over one crore government employees and pensioners.  The proposal to increase DA by six percentage points was taken at a meeting by the Union Cabinet.  DA is paid as proportion of the basic pay.  Earlier in April, the government had hiked DA by 6% to 113% of their basic pay with effect from January.  The proposed DA hike will take effect from July 1. As per the agreed formula, the DA rate increase is an average of 12-month consumer price index-industrial workers from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.  The proposed hike is in accordance with the accepted formula based on the recommendations of the 6th pay commission, which will benefit 48 lakh government employees and 55 lakh pensioners.  Last month, the Cabinet had given approval for the extension...

EXPECTED DA FROM JULY 2015′ IS FINALIZED AS HIKE BY 6%

AICPIN For The Month Of June 2015 – Expected DA July 2015 Finalized 3 Points increased and pegged at 261. As per the press release of Labour Bureau today, the All India Consumer Price Index (IW) is increased by three points from the existing level and stands at 261. So, ‘Expected DA from July 2015′ is finalized as hike by 6%.

Necessary order for payment of DA with effect from 1st July 2014 will be issued by Ministry of Finance soon. Here after our  focus  will be moving on to next installment of dearness allowance which will be paid from 1st January 2015. Since 2006, the AICPIN has witnessed second highest ever increase in July 2014. In 2009 the  AICPIN increased by 7 points from 153 to 160 in the month of July . Govt to increase dearness allowance to 107 p.c The Government is likely to approve a hike in dearness allowance (DA) to 107 per cent from the existing 100 per cent, benefiting around 30 lakh Centre’s employees and its 50 lakh pensioners including dependents. “The average rate of retail inflation for industrial workers from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 works out to be 7.25 per cent. Thus the Central government will hike dearness allowance for it employees by 7 per cent,” an official said. He said the Finance Ministry will now put a Cabinet proposal for approval of 7 per cent DA hike from July 1 this year as the revised Consumer Price Index-Industrial Workers data for June was released by Labour Ministry on Saturday. With increase in DA, the pensioners will also gain as the benefit provided to them as dearness relief will be hiked to 107 per cent of basic pay. HOW MUCH DA WILL GET FROM JULY 2014? AICPIN Value: The value of  AICPIN  was released some days ago.  It is found to be higher by two points and now it stands at 244. In order to correctly  calculate the DA  that we will get next month, we need the value of the AICPIN for one more month.  Percentage of DA:  In our previous article, titled “Expected DA July 2014,”  we had written that the DA may increase by 6% However, the value of the AICPIN for the past two months has increased more than expected. If the AICPIN value increases or decreases or remains the same,  the value of the DA% may increase up to 107% .
